Khal Nayak 2: Sanjay Dutt and Madhuri Dixit to reprise roles in sequel! Check BIG update

Filmmaker Subhash Ghai, the 'Showman of Bollywood' has delivered numerous blockbusters of his time with Sanjay Dutt, Jackie Shroff and Madhuri Dixit's Khal Nayak (1993) being one. Even after three decades, fans have been demanding a sequel to the classic cult. While Ghai had been hinting at a potential sequel for a long time, recently, the filmmaker dropped a major update. The filmmaker revealed that the script is complete and the cast will be locked soon. Interestingly, a source close to the development divulged about the Khal Nayak OGs aka Sanjay Dutt and Madhuri Dixit, being a part of the sequel.

Khal Nayak Sequel is Happening!

During a recent conversation with ETimes, Subhash Ghai said, "Yes, the script is complete now and the rest of the cast and technicians will soon be finalised."

Meanwhile, a source close to the development revealed to Filmfare that Ghai is excited about Khal Nayak's sequel. Further, he added that the filmmaker will cast newcomers in the lead roles. Interestingly, Sanjay Dutt and Madhuri Dixit will have cameo appearances in the sequel.

Sanjay Dutt To Reprise Ballu Balram?

Earlier in 2024, while talking about Khal Nayak 2, Ghai addressed the circulating rumours of recasting Ballu Balram. He said that Sanju will only play the iconic 'Khal Nayak' Ballu Balram in the sequel and he isn't looking for new actors to play the role. The filmmaker revealed that young actors will play new roles in the sequel. He further added that the young cast will be pitted against Ballu.

It is pertinent to mention here that Sanjay Dutt reprised his role of Ravi Kishore Verma from 1991's Sadak, in its sequel Sadak 2 (2020), starring Aditya Roy Kapur and Alia Bhatt in the lead. Helmed by Mahesh Bhatt, the sequel also had Pooja Bhatt in a cameo. Sadak was a major hit and one of the highest-grossing movies of the year. However, the sequel failed to connect with the audience and received overwhelmingly negative reviews.
