The inclusion of KGF star Yash in the Prime Video Series 'Angry Young Men' which documents the life and work and legendary writer duo Salim Khan-Javed Akhtar, left many surprised. Kannada Film Industry's Rocking Star Yash appeared a few times in the series and spoke about the 'angry young men' persona Salim-Javed had on him. However, many wondered why Yash was roped in for the series. Recently, director Namrata Rao revealed the reason for having Yash on board, during a recent interview. And, it has a special connection with Amitabh Bachchan.
During the interview with Indian Express, she mentioned how Yash totally embodied Salim-Javed's writing style in his successful film series. She also highlighted that Yash's character in the KGF series seemed to be inspired by Vijay, Salim-Javed's iconic hero, which was usually played by Amitabh Bachchan in 70s and 80s.
Rao was quoted as saying, "I found his character in 'KGF' quite similar to Vijay. He works in a coal mine and uses that same lift to go down, his mother lives under the subway like 'Deewaar'."
Further, she went on to add that it was impressive to see the audience resonate with such a character even after decades.
Talking about Yash's reaction, Rao said that the Rocking Star was happy to speak about Salim-Javed and how their character writing influenced his own style in the movies.
"Yash respects their work and enjoys watching their films, it took no convincing to get him on board. He was happy to do it,” Rao added.
Yash describes Salim-Javed as a massive phenomenon in the series, divided into three parts of 45 minutes each. KGF's Rocky Bhai also interpreted the term 'angry young man', the archetype of the hero created by the iconic writer-duo. Apart from Yash, the series features Amitabh Bachchan, Dharmendra, Salman Khan, Farhan Akhtar, and many others.
