Kartik Aaryan is one of the most sought-after actors in Bollywood. For his stellar performances in romantic avatars with excellent comic timing, he has earned a loyal fan base across generations. Be it his debut movie Pyaar Ka Punchnama, blockbuster Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety, Luka Chuppi, or his latest release Satya Prem Ki Kahani, he successfully wooed movie lovers with his performance.
The actor has delivered several hits throughout his career. However, the actor went downhill after Shehzada failed to impress the audience and got terribly bombed at the box office.
Notably, Shehzada was an official remake of Allu Arjun’s Telugu movie Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo, which went on to become an all-time blockbuster. While Allu Arjun tasted high success with the movie, Kartik failed to woo the audience.
While Kartik is prepping up for his upcoming Chandu Champion, he revealed of learning a lesson from the failure and also opened up about his decision of not doing any remake ever.
Speaking to BBC Asian Network, Kartik said that he will not do a remake ever again. He was quoted as saying, “I think the biggest perspective that I got was that I would not do a remake, I would not do a remake film. This is actually the first time that I was doing, the first time that I was actually experiencing something, I was doing it on camera, on screen, so it was a different experience.”
Furthermore, he added, “While filming, I didn’t realize it, but I realized that later on that this was something that people have already seen and I don’t see them watching it again, spending money, and going to the theatres to watch the same thing again. So, I got a big perspective.”
Further, speaking about the culture of remakes in Bollywood, Kartik said, “Because every now and then a remake arrives, you know, there’s a script, which is a remake. But I’ve decided that I would not enjoy it. I would not like to do something which somebody has done.”
On the work front, Kartik will be next seen in Chandu Champion, helmed by Kabir Khan. The film is reportedly based on the life of Murlikant Petkar, India’s first Paralympic gold medallist.
