Karan Johar’s celebrated show Koffee With Karan will not return to the small screen this year. The last season lacked all the spice and pepper that usually makes such shows talk of the web for a long time. No controversies, formatted and planned answers made the Koffee with Karan Season 8 very much predictable and to a large extent boring.
Except for the daring answers by Deepika Padukone when she discussed dating other men while off and on dating Ranveer Singh, not much was said on the talk show that could trigger a controversy. A season of Koffee with Karan is considered unsuccessful if it fails to keep the audience hooked and wanting for more.
And that is one of the reasons why Karan has decided to give the show a miss this year. But he is very much eager to return with a new avatar of Koffee with Karan Season 9 in 2025.
Karan may give rapid fire a miss next season
During his recent interview, the Dharma boss said that the rapid fire of Season 8 was the most boring rapid fire. According to Karan, “It was so boring that I was snooze alert. Woh rahata hain na yaar why am I even doing this. You are not giving me questions. Should we just drop the rapid-fire? Main hi hamper ghar le jata hoon because no one really deserves to win it. You know so I am like let’s just make it, let’s just change the world of Koffee with Karan.”
The famous director continued, “Let’s season 9 be all the fun, all the chattiness, all the kind of candor. But let’s do it in a way that does not put the movie stars or the celebrities in an awkward, you know touchy space. People are scared to open up. They don’t say anything they used to. You can’t question which is an overrated film or an overrated performance. Nobody’s is going to give it to you.”
Johar also discussed that the answers Emraan Hashmi and Mahesh Bhatt gave years ago on his show are not happening anymore. The Student of the Year director however said that Bhatt Saab might even give the answers in the same way but it can put him (Karan) in trouble. He confirmed that Koffee with Karan Season 9 will come somewhere in the second half of 2025 with a new syntax.
