Tollywood Rebel Star Prabhas is currently one of the busiest persons in the Indian Film Industry with multiple projects in the pipeline. Prabhas was last seen in Kalki 2898 AD which ended on a cliffhanger, leaving the plot unsolved and hinting at a sequel. Meanwhile, fans are eagerly waiting for the updates on the sequel. While it is clear that Nag Ashwin will come up with a sequel to his epic dystopian sci-fi action drama, there have been no official updates on it yet. However, a recent report suggests that Prabhas will begin shooting for the Kalki 2898 AD sequel soon.
According to a report by Cinejosh, producer Ashwini Dutta has confirmed that the sequel is already in the works and the filming will begin in April 2025.
Notably, Prabhas is currently busy with the horror-comedy 'The Raja Saab' in which the Baahubali star will be seen in a never-seen avatar. The movie, helmed by Maruthi will hit the theatres on April 10, 2025. If the latest report is anything to go by, Prabhas will begin shooting for Kalki 2898 AD after the release of The Raja Saab.

Kalki 2898 AD, the first instalment of the Kalki franchise had an ensemble cast. Apart from Prabhas as Bhairava, the movie starred Amitabh Bachchan as the immortal Ashwatthama, Kamal Haasan as the antagonist Supreme Yaskin, Deepika Padukone as Sumathi (Sum 80) and Disha Patani as Roxie with Saswata Chatterjee as Commander Manas.
Moreover, the cameos of Brahmanandam, Vijay Deverakonda, Dulquer Salman, Mrunal Thakur, SS Rajamouli and Ram Gopal Varma elevated the excitement among all. Kalki 2898 AD became the 7th highest-grossing Indian film with its global collections. Reportedly, the movie had an impressive collection of Rs 1100 crore. The powerful performance of the cast, especially Amitabh Bachchan, impressed the audience. Moreover, the VFX, high-end action sequences and BGM were highly appreciated.
For the unversed, the Kalki franchise is poised to expand its storytelling. The second instalment will likely show how Ashwatthama will rescue Sumathi and whether Prabhas will realise his original form, the reincarnation of Karna.
