Kalki 2898 AD recently completed its 25-day run and has scripted numerous box office records leaving several epic blockbusters behind. While Nag Ashwin is basking in the success of the dystopian science fiction film starring Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan and Deepika Padukone in major roles, moviegoers and critics alike are continuing to flood the character portrayals of the cast, especially Big B and Deepika. Undoubtedly, Amitabh swayed moviegoers with his powerful performance as Ashwatthama.
While the reports of the sequel of Kalki 2898 AD have filled excitement among all, a section of fans developed multiple theories regarding the movie and its sequel. Recently, production designer Nitin Zihani Choudary revealed some interesting details about the film and its sequel that will leave moviegoers shocked and fuel anticipation for the sequel.
Here are the interesting details that Nitin revealed during an interview with So South.
Supreme Yaskin is not Kali!
Kamal Haasan plays the role of Supreme Yaskin in Kalki 2898 AD. Many fans think that the character is a personification of Kali. However, Nitin claims that Yaskin is not a personification of Kali. As per the production designer, there are multiple Yaskins and all of them report to Kali. Further, Nitin claimed that the makers haven't yet figured out the appearance of Kali. Kali may be a projection of Yaskin, he added.
Yaskin is the 'negative side of Krishna'
Fans have come up with multiple theories speculating 'what's next' in Kalki 2898 AD. However, Supreme Yaskin lifting a Brahmastra and reciting a poem by Sri Sri at the end must have left everyone shocked. As Nitin reveals, the idea behind the sage and oppressor was to make him like a ‘fallen god’. Nitin claimed, “It’s a negative shade of Krishna, the opposite of Him. You see similarities between them, and the ending hints at that,.
Yaskin's body is rotting from inside
Yaskin is shown with cracks all over his body that glow from the inside. He needs the right serum to heal the cracks. The pipes plugged into his body help him to breathe. The production designer stated Yaskin is an old, fragile and rotten inside character. However, he also stated Yaskin to be extremely powerful even in such a condition. Further, he stated that Yaskin gained enlightenment from ‘inside’ because, outside, ‘he’s just a shell’.
6 more complex structures across the world
Kalki 2898 AD shows a complex structure (inverted pyramid) in Kashi led by Yaskin. However, Nitin said that apart from the complex structure in Kashi, there are six more such structures across the world in places like Africa, Europe, America, etc. All the structures are led by their respective Yaskins.
The world is upside down in Kalki 2898 AD
The pyramid shown in Kalki 2898 AD is upside down. However, Nitin claims that the entire world in the movie is presented upside down. It is believed that positive forces live in the heavens and negative forces live underground. However, as it is Kali Yug, the world is upside down. Nitin said, “You have a potent statue lifting the bad guys to heaven while the demigods like Ashwatthama live underground.”
Well, if the claims are anything to go by, moviegoers might get to see more characters similar to Supreme Yaskin. Moreover, if Yaskin is the 'negative side of Krishna' the sequel will be more interesting and captivating.
