Ishq 2! Aamir Khan and Ajay Devgn to reunite? Filmmaker says, 'Why not'

Aamir Khan, Ajay Devgn, Juhi Chawla and Kajol's 1997 rom-com drama 'Ishq' remains one of the unforgettable flicks. Helmed by Indra Kumar, the movie was a commercial success. The movie was lauded by the critics for the chemistry between the leads, comedy timing and music. Interestingly, the onscreen friendship between Aamir and Ajay was genuine as they bonded during the film. Recently, the duo reunited at an event which sparked the buzz of a sequel to Ishq. Even director Indra Kumar seems to be positive about the idea of making Ishq 2.

Aamir and Ajay reunited on November 9 at the Mahurat ceremony of Milap Zaveri's upcoming movie 'Tera Yaar Hoon Mein'. At the event, the actors-duo reminisced about the good times they had together during filming Ishq. This sparked curiosity among many about the potential sequel to the rom-com drama.

Following that, during an interview with ETimes, filmmaker Indra Kumar revealed his enthusiasm for bringing Ishq 2 with the original duo.

Kumar said, "Neki aur puch puch? The only thing is that to make a sequel that matches up to the original is a big task. Aisi script bhi toh likhni chahiye na.”

Further, he added that if Aamir and Ajay asked him to start working on the script, he would do it right away.

"If Ajay and Aamir ask me to start work on it, then why not? If they tell me script, likho toh main kal se hi likhna shuru kar du. Once they confirm and discuss the signing amount, then we will be good to go,” he added.

Well, it would definitely thrill the fans if Ishq 2 materialises and they get to see Raja (Aamir) and Ajay (Ajay) sharing screen space.

Notably, during the recent event, Ajay reminisced about the fun time they had together during the shooting of Ishq. He even suggested that they consider doing another film together and Aamir agreed to it. Meanwhile, Aamir also recalled a funny incident while filming Ishq when he was attacked by a Chimpanzee and Ajay came to his rescue. However, Ajay revealed the truth that Aamir provoked the chimp by spraying water on it.
