Stephen "tWitch" Boss, popularly known as the DJ from "The Ellen DeGeneres Show", a charismatic hip-hop dancer and Reality TV star allegedly killed himself in a motel room in Los Angeles. He was only 40.
He rose to fame on the reality show ‘So You Think You Can Dance’.
Reports said, he was found dead with what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He had been contactless following which his wife, Allison Holker contacted police. His body was recovered from the motel room a short time later. The reason for his step is yet to be ascertained.
"It is with the heaviest of hearts that I have to share my husband Stephen has left us," Holker, 34 revealed to media outlets.
She further added, “Stephen tWitch lit up every room he stepped into. He valued family, friends and community above all else, and leading with love and light was everything to him. He was the backbone of our family, the best husband and father, and an inspiration to his fans."
tWitch joined ‘So You Think You Can Dance’ in 2008 and won hearts with his talent for popping – dance form associated with hip-hop, his facial expressions and theatrics. Later, he became a fixture on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" after he joined in 2014. He stayed with the program until it ended this year.
He had also appeared in movies like "Step Up" and "Magic Mike XXL." This apart, he also hosted the reality show ‘Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings’ along with his wife.
The couple, who married in 2013, has three children.
"To say he left a legacy would be an understatement, and his positive impact will continue to be felt. I am certain there won't be a day that goes by that we won't honor his memory," Holker said in her statement.
DeGeneres took to social media after news of the tragedy broke, posting a picture of her and Boss hugging.
"I'm heartbroken. tWitch was pure love and light. He was my family, and I loved him with all my heart. I will miss him,” she wrote on Instagram.
