Actor Jason Shah, based in Mumbai, is mostly known for his role as British cop Alastair Cartwright in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s epic web series ‘Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar’. The actor, who was also part of Kangana Ranaut’s ‘Jhansi Ki Rani’, recently opened up about his struggle with s*x addiction.
The versatile actor admitted to being a ‘s*x addict’ in his early days and his efforts to support others dealing with it. In an interview with Zoom, Jason discussed society’s perception of s*x addiction and offered encouragement to those facing similar challenges.
The Heeramandi star wants to help others by sharing his journey and the strategies he used to improve himself. For the unversed, sex addiction is also called as hypersexual disorder. It involves uncontrollable sexual thoughts, urges or actions that can disrupt a person’s daily life, relationships and responsibilities.
Speaking to Zoom, Jason said, “Having been misguided and thinking it was cool to bed women from a young age, subconsciously, I had begun to open the door to this evil. Later, with fame and entry into entertainment industry, the problem only worsened. Further, I succumbed with lack of strength to resist.”
“I started to build my relationship with God. This involved daily prayers, communicating with His spirit, and learning to replace the negative aspects of life with positive ones. Fasting played a significant role as it helped me strengthen my willpower and self-control.”
“When you focus on God, you’re not only looking at the light but also looking upward, which helps you move away from meaningless distractions. This helps you from seeking instant gratification,” he added.
Apart from Heeramandi and Jhansi Ki Rani, not many know that Jason has also been part of several hit movies like Partner, Salaar, Thugs of Hindostan, Fitoor, August 16, 1947, and Mission Chapter 1.
