Gangubai Kathiawadi is all set to hit the theatres today. Alia Bhatt and Sanjay Leela Bhansali have done a good job promoting this flick almost on all platforms. Last week it was screened for the first time at the Berlinale Film Festival and surprisingly received rave reviews. Topmost media houses and critics have hailed this biopic on one of the lady mafia dons of India who lived in Kamathipura.
From The Letterbox, The Guardian, Firstpost to Moviepilot all big news-based platforms have given stunning reviews on Alia Bhatt’s Gangubai Kathiawadi. While most of them have praised Aaloo for her stunning performance, SLB’s presentation, narration, and gorgeous and stylish adaptation also received a lot of praise.
Indian fans from Berlin also seemed impressed with a few saying that Alia Bhatt has done a wonderful job and that the movie is going to get a lot of votes at awards functions.
Celebrities who were specially invited last evening for the special screening of Gangubai Kathiawadi have also appreciated the movie on their social media handles. Riteish and Genelia Deshmukh, Vicky Kaushal, director Shashank Khaitan, Ranbir Kapoor’s Sister Riddhima Kapoor Sahni praised the movie as well as the choreography, production design, and music of Gangubai Kathiawadi. The “cinematography by Sudeep Chatterjee is a bomb” says Riteish while the Raazi actor calls Alia an amazing actor. He has high words for SLB and calls him a master. A highly impressed Janhvi Kapoor has called Alia Bhatt cinematic magic in Gangubai Kathiawadi.
The movie has also been in the news because the heirs of real Gangubai wanted to stop the release of the movie saying that the character of Gangu has been portrayed wrongly in this movie. While the cases against the movie have been dismissed, reportedly Supreme Court has suggested that the name of the movie should be changed.
