Superstar Shah Rukh Khan’s much-awaited film ‘Dunki’, directed by 3 Idiots fame director Rajkumar Hirani has opened on a solid note. After the stupendous success of Pathaan and Jawan, Dunki is the third release of SRK in 2023.
Although the movie is getting a good response from the audience and critics alike, it failed to live up to the expectations of SRK’s previous two movies and opened below the mega-blockbusters at the box office window.
As per industry tracker Sacnilk, the first-day collection is only Rs 30 crore from all the languages. The portal further reported that the comedy-drama film had an overall occupancy of 25.71%. As per the opening day figures, Dunki has opened less than SRK’s Pathaan, Jawan, Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal, and Sunny Deol’s Gadar 2.
Pathaan collected Rs 57 crore on the first day while Jawan minted Rs 74.50 crore. Similarly, Sunny Deol’s Gadar 2 opened on a bumper note collecting Rs 40.1 crore while Ranbir Kapoor’s latest film ‘Animal’ took a monstrous start of Rs 63 crore.
However, the film is being loved by people all across and is expected to earn more in the coming days. However, it might suffer a big setback as the much-awaited movie ‘Salaar’ was released globally on December 22.
The Prashanth Neel-directed movie might affect Dunki’s box office collections. If Salaar opens to positive reviews from the masses, then the Prabhas-starrer might have an upper hand compared to Dunki.
