Television actress Dipika Kakar, known for her popular role in Sasural Simar Ka, is currently battling stage 2 liver cancer. While the news has deeply affected her fans and family, what has touched hearts the most is the quiet response of her one-year-old son, Ruhaan.

Ruhaan’s Emotional Response

In a deeply emotional video on their YouTube channel, Dipika and her husband, Shoaib Ibrahim, opened up about the impact of her diagnosis—not just on them, but most importantly, on their little boy.

“His feeding has completely stopped,” Shoaib shared with teary eyes. “He may be small, but he has sensed something is wrong.”

Dipika added emotionally, “Mumma theek nahi hai, wo samajh gaya hai. He doesn’t say much, but once or twice during the day, he comes and tells me something… and I know he understands. His eyes say it all.”

A Child’s Unspoken Grief

Though only a toddler, Ruhaan’s reaction has been deeply felt by the family. The couple shared how his behaviour has changed since Dipika fell ill—less playful, more observant, and unusually quiet.

“He doesn’t demand much now,” Shoaib noted. “He just looks at her, sits close, and holds her hand. That small gesture… it breaks us and heals us at the same time.”

Amid all the medical updates and treatments, the couple draws strength from Ruhaan’s silent resilience. “He is our biggest reason to fight harder,” Dipika said. “Every time I see his face, I remind myself I have to come back stronger—for him.”

Diagnosis and Discovery

Dipika first sought medical attention after experiencing severe pain in the upper part of her stomach. What began as a routine hospital visit turned into a life-changing moment when scans revealed a tumour the size of a tennis ball in her liver. Further tests confirmed that the tumour was malignant.

“In the last few weeks, our lives turned upside down,” Dipika wrote in a heartfelt Instagram note. “Finding out that it’s a tennis ball-sized tumour in the liver and that it’s second-stage cancer has been the most difficult time we’ve experienced.”

Surgery and Current Condition

Shoaib revealed that while the diagnosis was devastating, recent scan reports brought some relief. “Alhamdulillah, the cancer hasn’t spread anywhere else in the body. It’s confined to the tumour, and once it is surgically removed, Inshallah, things will get better,” he said.

However, Dipika’s surgery has been slightly delayed due to a persistent cough, though doctors remain confident in managing the condition. “The doctors are very positive and have assured us it can be treated,” Shoaib added.
