Dhoom 4 has been in the pipeline for a long time now. While YRF never declared anything officially, it is a known fact that the production house is keen to reboot this franchise and come up with a fourth movie in the series. In all the Dhoom movies while Abhishek Bachchan played a sincere and brave cop, it was the antagonist who kept on changing and was the key attraction of the film.
The first film had sauve and handsome John Abraham playing the negative role followed by Hrithik Roshan in Dhoom 2 and Aamir Khan in a double role in Dhoom 3. Now YRF is contemplating hiring either Ranbir Kapoor or their favourite megastar Shah Rukh Khan for the fourth installment from the franchise.
Both Ranbir and SRK have shown that they can play characters with negative shade with aplomb. While Ranbir was fabulous as aggressive and violent Ranvijay in Animal, SRK started his career with such characters in movies like Darr, and Anjaam and impressed as a stylish Don. YRF is keen to hire either of these two stars for the role of lead antagonist and it is expected that whosoever will show his readiness to do the role may get it.
Apart from the role of antagonist, YRF is also in a dilemma whether to continue with Abhishek Bachchan as the cop in Dhoom 4 or replace him with a new, budding actor. During the release of Dhoom 3, there were rumours that Junior Bachchan was not happy with YRF, particularly for giving a major part of the screen space to Aamir Khan , even more than him who played the lead hero. Since then he has refrained from working with YRF.
The actor even refused to work in Bunty aur Babli 2 and was replaced by Saif Ali Khan. The first movie had him paired with Rani Mukerji and it was a big hit. So apart from the lead antagonist, YRF may also have to think of a lead protagonist for Dhoom 4 if Abhishek Bachchan refuses to return to the franchise.
