Identical twins Surabhi Mehra and Samriddhi Mehra, better known as Chinki-Minki, have made their mark in the Indian entertainment industry and on social media. From their hilarious twin act on The Kapil Sharma Show to their dancing, acting, and engaging online content, they’ve built a distinct identity. Yet, few know that Samriddhi was unaware of her twin for the first years of her life.
Samriddhi Opens Up
On Colors TV’s new reality show Chhoriyan Chali Gaon, hosted by Rannvijay Singha, popular urban celebrities are taken away from city life and immersed in the heart of rural Bamuliya. The program not only tests their adaptability but also unveils untold personal stories.
Among the participants are the much-loved creators Samriddhi and Surabhi. Known for their humour and energy, the sisters showed a different, deeply emotional side in a recent episode.
A Hidden Truth from Childhood
In a heartfelt and tearful revelation, Samriddhi shared a chapter of her life she had never spoken about publicly. For the early years of her childhood, she didn’t even know her twin existed.
With a trembling voice, she said, “My family was so traditional that they sent my sister away just because we were 2 girls. I did not know that I even had a twin. My sister never got to feel a mother’s love in those formative years."
How Chinki-Minki Reunited?
She explained that it was only her mother’s determination that finally reunited them.
“But our mom stood up for us; she fought with the whole family to get us together. I met my sister for the first time when I was 5. When she came back home, I didn’t even realise I had a sister who looked identical to me," she said.
Samriddhi added, “After that day, our relationship has been solid. Our mother is the world for us."
Her words struck a chord with both the contestants and the audience. Her tears reflected not only the pain of the past but also the strength, unity, and love that emerged from it.
Her reunion with Surabhi became the start of an inseparable bond, one that continues to grow stronger with time.
