Bollywood superstar and Mr. Perfectionist Aamir Khan’s son Junaid is already hitting the headlines for all the wrong reasons even before his debut. The star kid, who is all set to make his big Bollywood debut with ‘Maharaj’, has landed in controversy as fans claim the film shows religious leaders and sadhus in a negative light.
Days after Bajrang Dal threatened to stall the release of the film, angry fans are trending #BanMaharajFilm and #BoycottNetflix on X (formerly known as Twitter). Hindu activists are expressing their apprehensions about religious leaders being shown in wrong light in Junaid’s debut film.
“Why was religion introduced into a film made on food a few months ago? And now the insult to Hindu saints, how long will this continue? Ban Maharaj Film,” commented a user.

“Aamir Khan's is launching his son in Hindumisic movie creating a false image of Sadhus and the Vallabh Sampradaya, by quoting an incident during the British regime! Content that could alienate Hindu youth from Sanatan Dharm #BoycottNetflix Unite and demand to Ban Maharaj Film,” shared another user.
Worth mentioning, Maharaj is based on the story of the Maharaj Libel Case of 1862 which is considered to be one of the most significant legal battles in India. In the film, Junaid will be seen as a journalist and a social reformer Karsandas Mulji while Jaideep Ahalwat will be seen essaying the role of Jadunathji Brijratanji Maharaj, one of the heads of the Vallabhacharya sect.
