The Tarang Cine Productions’ Odia biopic, ‘Pade Akasha,’ is drawing packed houses with enthusiastic viewers praising its powerful message and emotional depth following its April 11 release.
Based on the life of disability rights activist Dr. Sruti Mohapatra, it has quickly become a word-of-mouth success across Odisha. Visuals from PJ Movies, Veena Cinema Hall in Jatani, featured packed theaters and engaged audiences, earning huge merit for the film.
A Life of Resilience and Change
Directed by Susant Mani and produced by Litisha Mangat Panda, ‘Pade Akasha’ chronicles Dr. Mohapatra’s inspiring journey from a promising civil service aspirant to a tireless advocate for inclusivity.
The story follows her life after a tragic accident in 1987 left her paralyzed from the neck down. Mohapatra then battled discrimination, social stigma, and personal loss. Yet, she rose above her circumstances to earn an MPhil and PhD and train over 100 civil service aspirants, many of whom serve in top government roles today.

Archita Sahu Shines in Lead Role
Acclaimed actress Archita Sahu delivered a heartfelt performance as Dr. Mohapatra, winning praise from critics and audiences alike.
“The social message present in the film is very inspiring and needs to be watched and understood by all. I had heard a lot about it in the news and from word-of-mouth, and witnessing it on screens was a fulfilling experience,” said Preeti Prusty, an audience member at a Jatani cinema hall.
Additionally, viewers praised Archita Sahu’s portrayal, saying that it captured both vulnerability and strength, lending authenticity to the story. Additionally, her presence at several screenings has delighted fans and deepened the emotional impact of the film.
A Meaningful Step for Odia Cinema

“The movie is heavily inspiring, and Archita ma’am, has done fabulous acting. The message of this film for youths to not lose hope is very strong and poignant,” said Payal Priyadarshini, another audience member from Jatani.
With a cast featuring Rajesh Jais, Hara Rath, and Smita Mohanty, and music by Prem Anand, the film is being hailed as one of the most significant Odia releases in recent years by several critics.
