Breaking New Ground in Korea

After winning hearts with her roles in projects like Kill Dill and the Amazon mini-series Dil Dosti Dilemma, Anushka has now taken a bold step into South Korea’s entertainment industry. She is set to star in the upcoming Korean film Asia and its spin-off web series Crush, alongside South Korean Olympic shooter Kim Ye-ji.

These cross-cultural projects mark a significant moment in her career as she becomes the first Indian actor to be cast in Korean drama productions, further strengthening India-Korea cultural ties.

A Love for Korean Culture Turned Career

Anushka’s foray into K-entertainment wasn’t calculated—it was organic. During the COVID-19 lockdown, she became a fan of K-dramas and K-pop, which sparked a deep admiration for Korean storytelling, music, fashion, and lifestyle. “I started watching K-dramas and immediately fell in love with them,” she shared in an interview.

A year later, Anushka was appointed as an ambassador for Korean tourism, a role that naturally transitioned into acting offers from Korean producers who had been following her career for two years. “If it's meant to be, it just happens,” she says, reflecting on the serendipity of it all.

A Style Icon in Seoul

Recently, Anushka stunned fans with a photoshoot in Seoul, donning a dramatic black gown with a drop-folded shoulder, thread-detailed waist, and thigh-high slit. With minimal makeup, flowing hair, and black stilettos, she channeled pure K-drama elegance. She captioned her post with, “My Korean name is Seon Yeo-myung,” igniting excitement among fans worldwide.

This fusion of Indian roots and Korean aesthetics underlines her role as a global ambassador who blends cultures with ease.

Representation with Pride

Anushka isn’t just representing Indian entertainment—she’s representing Indian identity. From featuring on billboards in South Korea to performing live at New York’s Times Square as part of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals event, she carries her heritage proudly. Wearing an upcycled Indian outfit and a traditional bindi during her performance, she said, “It’s important for me to carry my Indianness with me wherever I go.”
