Anupamaa will soon see an entry of a new male character that will be paired opposite Rupali Ganguly. Now that Kavya and Vanraj are married, the makers want to have a parallel story of Anu with another male so that two stories will run in the serial simultaneously.
The makers have always promoted the serial as one with a modern outlook but with a semi-traditional background. Recently, Rajan Shahi confirmed that a new male character will soon make an entry on Anupamaa and that he will be paired opposite Rupali. However, the team is not in haste to bring someone on board before considering the pros and cons.
Rather, the team of writers is currently scripting a story that will ensure that the track with the new male character will start sometime in the month of August this year. Names like Arshad Warsi, Ronit Roy, Barun Sobti floated earlier but the makers have denied approaching these stars. Rather, they have said that Barun is too young to be paired opposite Rupali and they are looking for a very strong actor who can match the dynamics of Rupali Ganguly as an actress on the screen.

According to insider reports, the team of Anupamaa is keen to sign the telly veteran Varun Badola who was last seen with Shweta Tiwari in Meri Dad Ki Dulhan. Over the years Varun has established that he can deliver strong performance given the opportunity.
Another interesting fact is that the producer Rajan Shahi does not want to take chances with this new character and hence he is planning to work with an actor with whom he has already worked and had a great working experience.
Apurva Agnihotri, who was earlier introduced as Dr. Advait in Anupamaa for a short stint, had earlier worked with Rajan in Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahi. Interestingly, Varun Badola has already played a cameo in Rajan Shahi’s Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai and his character was loved by everyone. So it won’t be surprising if the Phir Subah Hogi actor is finalised as the new male lead in Anupamaa.
