Annu Kapoor, the veteran Bollywood actor known for delivering some memorable performances in Mr. India and Dream Girl recently made some controversial comments on Shimit Amin's directorial Chak De! India. The movie starred Shah Rukh Khan in the lead revolved around a Muslim hockey coach whose dedication and guidance helped the Indian Women’s Hockey team to win a World Cup.

During a recent interview with ANI, Annu Kapoor made some serious allegations against the makers of the movie. According to the actor, the makers of Chak De! India purposely changed the narrative of the movie so that it could fit their communal agenda. He even said that the lead character of Kabir Khan portrayed by Shah Rukh Khan was intentionally portrayed as Muslim although the story was inspired by the character of hockey coach Mir Ranjan Negi.

Annu Kapoor said, "The main character in Chak De! India is based on a famous coach, Negi Saab. But in India, they want to show a Muslim as a good character and make fun of a Pandit (Hindu priest). This is something old, where they use the idea of Ganga-Jamuni Tehzeeb (Hindu-Muslim unity) to put a label on it."

Produced by YRF, the movie shows SRK aka Kabir Khan as a former hockey star who was accused of betraying India during a match against Pakistan after India's loss. Later on he is offered the job of hockey coach to Indian Women’s team. He takes this as a challenge and coaches the underdogs in such a way that they beat world champions Australia in the finals.

A few days ago, Annu Kapoor attracted a lot of attention when he said that Priyanka Chopra Jonas refused to kiss him during the shooting of 7 Khoon Maaf because he was not a conventional actor. He also revealed a tiff with the legendary Shashi Kapoor during the making of Utsav and how despite differences Shashiji paid him handsomely for the role when he was least expecting.
