BTown's GenZ actress Ananya Panday made her OTT debut with her comedy series Call Me Bae. While the show has been generating buzz for quite some time now, it started streaming on September 6 on Prime Video. Fans are yet to share their review on the show. But, one particular scene has made everyone talk about it. Ananya Panday does a Kiara Advani straight from the latter's wedding in Call Me Bae. And netizens blame ace filmmaker Karan Johar for this.
In the first episode of Call Me Bae, viewers were presented with a love story that had an uncanny resemblance to a real life love story. And, the love story is none other than star couple Sidharth Malhotra and Kiara Advani.
Ananya's character Bae reenacts Kiara in her wedding, which viewers had already watched in the viral video of Sid-Kiara's wedding.
In the episode, Ananya is seen walking towards the mandap in a way that Kiara did long back during her wedding. While the grand entry of the bride is quite similar to the star couple's wedding, the groom, Agastya (played by Vihaan Samat) reenacts Sid's actions as the Yodha star did while Kiara's entry.
As the wedding scene unfolds, fans notice the striking similarities to the Sid-Kiara wedding.
Moreover, the scene even concludes with the bride and groom bowing down to each other with folded hands, which Sid and Kiara had done.
Well, this wedding scene from Call Me Bae has created quite a storm on social media. Netizens have blamed ace filmmaker Karan Johar. KJo was dragged into this as he launched Ananya Panday in Student of The Year 2 and Call Me Bae is produced under Dharmatic Entertainment, a digital extension of Dharma Productions.
While the wedding scene clip from Call Me Bae has gone viral, netizens vented their anger and dissatisfaction.
One user wrote, "Its bad using someones special moment for this." (sic)
Another wrote, "Why did Sidkiara allowed kjo to recreate this ! They’ve ruined it." (sic)
"They will allow yar Sid was launched by karan and kiara has got all ehr chances from karan if they want more opportunities they have to do whatever they ask and they will do too," wrote a third user. (sic)
"What?? Sid-Kiara’ wedding pictures were the most liked on insta. Kjo ruined their beautiful moment and how?" wrote another. (sic)
Written by Ishita Moitra, Samina Motlekar and Rohit Nair, the comedy-drama series is helmed by Colin D'Cunha. While Ananya plays the titular role, the ensemble cast includes Vir Das, Gurfateh Pirzada, Varun Sood, Muskaan Jaferi, Niharika Lyra Dutt, Lisa Mishra and Mini Mathur alongside Vihaan.
