Amitabh Bachchan Decided to Leave Mumbai After String of Flops!
Amitabh Bachchan debuted with Saat Hindustani in 1969. Next, he was seen in Anand (1971) alongside Rajesh Khanna. His performance as Dr Bhaskar Banerjee was lauded and he won the Filmfare Award under Best Supporting Actor (Male) category. Following that, he was cast in several movies including Reshma Aur Shera, Sanjog, Piya Ka Ghar (1971), Bombay To Goa, Bansi Birju, Raaste Kaa Patthar, Jaban, Ek Nazar, Bansi Birju (1972) and many more. However, most of his movies bombed at the box office. After a string of flops, Amitabh decided to leave Mumbai due to disappointment.
Manoj Kumar Stepped In To Bring Big B's Career On Track
However, eminent actor and filmmaker Manoj Kumar stepped in to revive Amitabh Bachchan's sinking career on track. It was a time when no one wanted to cast Amitabh in the movie. But, Manoj Kumar decided to give him a chance and offered him an opportunity to work in Roti Kapda Aur Makaan (1974). The movie proved to be a blockbuster.
The filmmaker later in an interview said, "Even when people were taunting Amitabh for his failures, I had full faith in him that he would become a big star one day."
Eventually, his statement came true and Amitabh Bachchan ruled the box office and his reign still continues for over five decades.
Manoj Kumar Leaves For His Heavenly Abode
The veteran actor and filmmaker left for his heavenly abode on Friday at the age of 87. Honoring his contribution to Indian cinema, and the nation, he was accorded a state funeral on Saturday. Among others, Amitabh Bachchan arrived to pay his last respects to the late filmmaker.

At the late actor's last rites, Amitabh Bachchan was seen sharing a hug with Salim Khan. Amitabh was seen walking behind Salim before stepping forward to greet him. The Paa actor reached out to the eminent screenwriter for a handshake, followed by a respectful namaste. The duo engaged in a conversation and then shared an emotional hug. Well, this moment made many emotional.
