Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone’s song 'Besharam Rang' from their upcoming movie ‘Pathaan’, since its release, is embroiled in controversies. Alleging showcase of “shameless vulgarity”, it has been on the receiving end.
Many politicians and right outfits have objected to the use of saffron colour for Deepika's attire. There are also calls for boycotting the movie. Even a Muslim community has warned to stop the movie's release in Madhya Pradesh if the name of the movie is not changed.
Amid these controversies, Congress leader Udit Raj has joined the ‘Boycott Pathaan’ debate. The Congress leader has suggested that feminists should wear saffron-colored bras and bikinis to respond to ‘Bhakts’.
“My advice to feminists is to reply to these bhakts by wearing saffron colored bikinis and bras etc,” tweeted Udit Raj on Saturday.
His unsolicited advice was criticised by several Twitteratis who asked him to start the trend from his home or the Congress Party.
Leading the anti-Pathaan campaign from the front is Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Dr Narottam Mishra, who was furious over the use of saffron colour bikini in the song.
Mishra said that Deepika Padukone's outfits are objectionable and it should be corrected or they will be forced to mull whether to stall the film’s release in the state.
Mishra has shared a video of himself on Twitter speaking to the local media. In the video, he points out that the song had been shot with a perverted mindset.
Similarly, National President of All India Hindu Mahasabha Swami Chakrapani Maharaj took to Twitter on Thursday asking the censor board to take strict action against the makers of the film. He added that the organisation would step up protests if the movie is released.
Meanwhile, Muslim community has also raised objections and warned the makers over Pathaan’s release.
Madhya Pradesh Ulema Board’s president, Syed Anas Ali, while speaking to ANI, said, “The sentiments of the Muslim community have been hurt by this film. We will not allow this film to be released, not just in Madhya Pradesh but across the country.”
“The Pathans are one of the most respectable Muslim communities. Not just the Pathans, but the entire Muslim community is being defamed in this film. The name of the film is Pathaan and women are seen performing obscene dances in it. Pathans are being portrayed wrongly in the film,” he added.
Pathaan is scheduled for release on January 25, 2023. The film is helmed by Siddharth Anand and produced by Yash Raj Films.
