Alia Bhatt has emerged as the most sought-after actress after showcasing her multifaceted talents in various movies. In her illustrious journey of more than a decade in the Indian film industry, she has won the hearts of movie lovers with her stellar performance in different genres. Now, the Brahmastra actress is poised to take her next step onto the grand stage of Hollywood.
Recently, during an interview focusing on the film, Alia shared her thoughts on the possibility of pursuing a career akin to Priyanka Chopra by venturing into the United States.
In her recent conversation with The Associated Press, she was asked whether she envisioned herself relocating to the US for her Hollywood aspirations. Alia's response veered towards the negative, subtly alluding to the formidable courage demonstrated by Priyanka Chopra in embarking on a similar path.
Alia said, “I think what Priyanka did was extremely brave and very different from what anyone has ever done. She’s such an inspiration to every young girl from India that has that big dream to be a global icon and a global star.”
Further, she added, “I don’t think I could do that. I want to continue to do movies in India. And I want to be able to get these one-off, amazing international opportunities.”
Talking about her future projects post the debut, Alia said, “I still don’t know what I’m doing. It’s just this one film and we’ll see how it goes from here.”
In her Bollywood journey, Alia has taken on the mantle of the lead actress in numerous projects, even spearheading solo projects including ‘Raazi’ and ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi.’ However, in her Hollywood debut, she will be seen as the second lead alongside Gal Gadot. This shift is met with contentment, as Alia embodies the pivotal role of Keya Dhawan, the antagonist who engages in a high-stakes battle with Gal's character, Rachel Stone, over an immensely perilous and valuable weapon.
Importantly, Alia's foremost concern was ensuring her character played a meaningful role within the storyline, rather than merely filling a token "South Asian" slot. This aspiration reflects her commitment to substantive representation.
“The way I judge it is if you take the character out of the story and you still have a film, then that character’s not important,” Alia said.
Amidst a spectacular year marked by successful film endeavours, a memorable Met Gala entrance, and assuming the ambassadorial role for an international luxury brand, Alia's gaze now rests upon the horizon of global prominence. As she moves ahead, her sights are firmly set on etching her name across the canvas of international stardom.
