Bollywood actress Richa Chadha courted a fresh controversy when she responded with a ‘taunt’ to a statement of Indian Army on Wednesday.
Commanding-in-chief of the Northern Command Lt General Upendra Dwivedi reportedly said that the Indian Army is prepared to take back Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) if the government issues such an order. "We are fully prepared to take back PoK from Pakistan. We are waiting for the orders from the govt. We will complete the operation quickly. Before that if Pakistan is violating ceasefire, the answer will be different, even they cannot imagine," the Northern Army Commander was quoted as saying.
In response to the viral statement, Richa tweeted saying “Galwan says hi”.
Soon, the actress came under fire on social media for her ‘insensitive’ post. People slammed her for allegedly insulting Indian Army by mocking the sacrifice of soldiers in the 2020 Galwan clash between India and China.
"Twenty Indian bravehearts sacrificed their life for India in Galwan, but here is an Urduwood actor mocking Indian Army. Not only sad but shameful. A new low from Richa Chadha," said senior lawyer Shashank Shekhar Jha.
"If you question Richa Chadha's patriotism, she will tell you 'her family' fought in 1965 and 1971 war. Those who use their family's credentials to justify their wrongs are the biggest clowns,” said another Twitter user.
Empty theatres will soon say hi to Richa Chadha, wrote the user while pushing for the Boycott Bollywood trend.
"Richa this is highly insensitive and idiotic of you to disrespect our warriors.. It is their freedom which you are enjoying," says another user on Twitter.
After the brutal trolling, the actress removed her tweet and apologised for her statement, or rather for the 'three words she used'.
Earlier this year in October, Richa and Ali Fazal threw a grand reception for close friends and relatives to publicly declare their union. The couple later released a statement wherein they clarified that they have been legally married for over two years now.
