Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar has once again found himself in the middle of a social media storm. A viral video from his cameo in Vishnu Manchu’s pan-India film Kannappa has sparked a heated debate online.
It is claimed that the actor allegedly used a teleprompter to deliver his dialogues as Lord Shiva. The clip has divided the internet, igniting both fierce criticism and staunch support from fans.
Teleprompter Allegation Sparks Meme Fest
In the viral scene, Akshay’s portrayal of Lord Shiva sees him explaining the bond between Tinnadu and Lord Vishnu.
However, some netizens pointed out that his eyes appeared to move side-to-side suggesting he might be reading lines from a teleprompter.
A user who shared the clip on X (formerly Twitter) mocked, “Teleprompter Kumar, Akshay Kumar using teleprompter to read dialogue. 40 din mein movie aise hi complete hoti hai.” The video, recorded inside a cinema hall, spread like wildfire across platforms.
Internet Divided Over Akshay’s Performance
As the clip gained traction, reactions were polarizing. Critics slammed Akshay for charging hefty fees while allegedly delivering lackluster performances.
One user fumed, “Still, he will ask for 50% of the budget as fees with shares in profit.”
the casting “very bad… opportunists playing Mahadev.” another user said.
Meanwhile, fans came to his defense, with some pointing out that his role in Kannappa was a goodwill cameo.
“It’s a guest appearance and he didn’t charge anything. You can give him that much liberty,” a supporter wrote.
Not the First Time for ‘Teleprompter Kumar’ Jibes
This isn’t the first time Akshay has been accused of relying on a teleprompter. A similar controversy erupted during his 2024 film Sarfira. Despite the trolling, Akshay’s fans argued he remains a consistent entertainer.
On the work front, Akshay Kumar is gearing up for his next big releases with Jolly LLB 3 and Welcome To The Jungle.
