Ajay Devgn has been one of the biggest Bollywood superstars for the last almost three decades. Along with the 3 Khans (Salman, Aamir and Shah Rukh) and Akshay Kumar he has been leading the industry delivering hits after hits. While the last couple of years have been not so well for Bollywood’s Bajirao Singham, he continues to give some good films like Shaitaan in between to ensure that his fans continue to get a good dose of entertainment and thrill.

Ajay Devgn once felt burnt out and wanted to quit movies

As the son of famous stunt man Veeru Devgan, Ajay Devgn got a rocking Bollywood launch with Phool Aur Kaante. Girls went crazy over his eyes whereas boys were pretty much impressed with his daring bike stunt. One movie after the other, Ajay continued to go up the ladder delivering massive hits and ensuring his place in the top 5 Bollywood superstars for many years to come.

Be it the comedy in the Golmaal series, action in Singham, Gangaajal, and other such movies, or a historic film like Tanhaji, Ajay Devgn has proved his versatility time and again.

Despite all such success and fame, there was a time when the Drishyam actor was on the verge of quitting movies as he was feeling burnt out. Revealing the same Ajay Devgn during his press meeting at Critics' Choice Awards 2023 said, “Honestly speaking, there was a point in my life in the 90s… Today we do one film at a time, at that time we used to do 14-15 films at a time. We used to do four shifts, and five to six-hour shifts. We used to go at 7 in the morning for work, shoot till about 12 on one set, and in the same pair of jeans go to the other set. We just used to change the jacket or the shirt and shoot for four to five hours.”

It was certainly a very hectic schedule with most of the stars doing multiple shifts which was quite tiring. That was the time when Ajay Devgn felt like leaving the movies. He said, “That was the point where I felt that I didn't want to work anymore, and I stopped doing this. I started doing two or three films in a year. That was the only phase. Otherwise, I love going to work. If I have nothing to do for two days, I wouldn’t know what to do with myself.”
