Debutants Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda have emerged as the most successful Gen Z stars with Mohit Suri's Saiyaara. Reportedly, Saiyaara started its theatrical run with a bang and opened to largely positive reviews. While its day one domestic collection is reported to be Rs 21 crore (net), the early estimates for day two are reported to be Rs 40 crore.
Undoubtedly, the heartfelt storyline of Suri's musical romantic film is winning the hearts of moviegoers, and the acting chops of the leads have struck their emotional chords. Well, amid the flooding praises and celebrations, some fans claim that Saiyaara's storyline is similar to the plot of a Korean film, titled 'A Moment to Remember'.
Saiyaara's Storyline Similar to Korean Film's Plot?
Earlier, Mohit Suri was accused of adapting South Korean dramas. According to Movie Talkies, Murder 2 was seemingly based on The Chaser, Awarapan was inspired by A Bittersweet Life, and Ek Villain had similarities with I Saw the Devil. And now, a section of netizens have alleged that Saiyaara's storyline has similarities with the plot of 2004's Korean classic- A Moment To Remember.
As per Movie Talkies, in the Korean movie A Moment To Remember, the female lead develops early-onset Alzheimer’s disease and slowly begins to forget her husband. However, Suri added a spin to the narrative in Saiyaara, and the female lead struggles with the same medical condition even before marriage. Moreover, Suri, who is known for adding a musical touch to his films, added the touch of music and youth to the narrative. Though the makers haven't commented on it, netizens are buzzing on Reddit with the theory.
However, many also came to defend Suri.

Saiyaara's Idea Was Originally For Aashiqui 3!
A couple of days ago, Suri revealed that the idea was originally conceived as Aashiqui 3. During an interview with Pinkvilla, Suri revealed that Bhushan Kumar and Mukesh Bhatt had approached him to develop a draft. However, due to the fluctuating relationship between Kumar and Bhatt and a rushed announcement plan, he opted to rework the idea independently. Eventually, the concept developed into Saiyaara.
Further, he also shared that filmmaker Luv Ranjan pushed him to write Saiyaara. He credited Luv for pushing him toward a love story.
Well, Suri weaved a magic with Saiyaara and struck the emotional and commercial chord with the audience. Against all odds and with zero promotions, Saiyaara is on its way to script history.
