However, amidst all the promotions the platform has found itself in a massive controversy post receiving backlash from the fans of Shehnaaz Gill.
The controversy started when AltBalaji liked a post on Twitter that was derogatory to the Bigg Boss alum Shehnaaz. As fans noticed that the digital platform liked a tweet that trolled her but promoted Sidharth’s latest series, they slammed the OTT platform and started trending ‘Shame On AltBalaji’. Many fans seemed apology from AltBalaji and questioned their Twitter page for liking such a distasteful tweet. The meme that courted the controversy now is deleted on Twitter.

Soon as the backlash intensified, AltBalaji issued an apology to Shehnaaz and cited 'human error' as the reason behind the mistake. Autumn Worldwide, the company which manages AltBalaji’s social media apologised for the serious error stating that the tweet was liked by one of their team members by mistake and was not in good taste. The company also stated that the mistake was completely on them, not on AltBalaji.
