Salman Khan and Kabir Khan’s Bajrangi Bhaijaan completes 9 years of its release today July 17. It is one of the all-time biggest hits of the Bollywood superstar. While now Bollywood fans cannot imagine any other actor doing the role of Bajrangi, the script was earlier offered to many other actors before it landed in the laps of Bhaijan.

Hrithik Roshan, Aamir Khan, Allu Arjun were offered Bajrangi Bhaijaan before Salman Khan

But first, the writer Vijayendra Prasad (father of SS Rajamouli) had offered this script to Rakesh Roshan who was eager to cast Hrithik Roshan as Bajrangi in the movie. But due to some production issues the Roshan’s distanced themselves from this project. When Kabir Khan first took up the script he decided to discuss it with Aamir Khan but when the Lagaan producer suggested certain changes, Kabir Khan decided to drop his idea of giving the role to Aamir. The role of Bajrangi was also offered to Allu Arjun who rejected it due to prior commitments.

Salman’s presence made it one of the biggest hits

Eventually, the role went to Salman Khan whose presence made it one of the biggest Bollywood hits of all time. The movie was made on a budget of 90 crores and went on to earn 922 crores worldwide ensuring 800 plus crores of profit for the makers. Even today Kabir Khan says that the massive success of Bajrangi Bhaijaan was because of Salman Khan’s presence. The Ek Tha Tiger director said that the script was very good and it would have been successful even in the absence of the Sultan actor.

But the presence of Salman in the movie as Bajrangi made it one of the biggest hits.

More than 1000 girls auditioned for the role of Munni

The makers auditioned more than 1000 girls for the role of Munni. Not only India, but they also auditioned girls from Iran and Afghanistan but finally narrowed on New Delhi’s Harshaali Malhotra. One of the reasons why Kabir Khan was keen to cast Salman Khan as Bajrangi was his chemistry with children. He is pure magic with kids and that innocence was the USP of Bajrangi Bhaijaan.
