2009's Hindi flick 3 Idiots is one of the most successful movies in the history of Indian cinema. Helmed by Rajkumar Hirani and starring Aamir Khan, R Madhavan, Sharman Joshi, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Omi Vaidya and Boman Irani in pivotal roles, the comedy-drama was commercially successful as well as critically acclaimed. While moviegoers are still in awe of the movie even after over a decade, recently the cult classic added another achievement to its name. Recently, the movie received a shoutout from The Academic making fans go crazy.
On July 11, 2024, The Academy took to its official Instagram handle and shared an iconic clip from 3 Idiots. The scene shows Aamir, Madhavan and Sharman arriving late at the exam hall citing an emergency. However, when they submitted their answer sheets, the professor refused to take them as they were late.
However, Rancho (Aamir) uses his cleverness and diverts the professor with his talk. Suddenly, he mixes up their answer sheets with the others arranged on the table by the paper.
Sharing the clip, The Academy captioned it, "Rancho's presence of mind was at 100% here. Film: 3 IDIOTS. Directed by Rajkumar Hirani. Written by Rajkumar Hirani and Abhijat Joshi (Based on the novel ‘Five Point Someone’ by Chetan Bhagat). Starring Aamir Khan, Kareena Kapoor, R. Madhavan, Sharman Joshi, Omi Vaidya and Boman Irani."
