The Odisha Higher Education Department is all set to start the third batch of free coaching for UPSC Civil Services examinations (Prelim/Mains).  The enrolment for the coaching will be conducted through an entrance examination. 

The Process: The interested aspirants will have to apply for enrolment for the entrance examination as well as to download their admit cards for the said entrance examination through online in the Higher Education Department website. An online module under the SAMS portal will also be developed to invite applications from UPSC Civil Services aspirants for the pre-qualifying entrance examination to be held on  June 8, 2025.

Eligibility Criteria:

Domicile: To appear in the entrance examination, a candidate must be a permanent domicile of Odisha.

Age Limit: The candidate must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have attained the age of 30 years on the first day of February, 2025 i.e.. the candidate must have been born not earlier than 2nd February, 1995 and not later than 1st February,2004. The upper age limit prescribed above will be relaxable up to a maximum of five years if a candidate belongs to a Scheduled Caste or a Scheduled Tribe and up to a maximum of three years in the case of candidates belonging to Other Backward Classes/ Socially and Economically Backward Classes.

Minimum Educational Qualification: A candidate must have attained the minimum educational qualification, i.e., graduation or any equivalent qualification as on the 1st day of February,2025.

Selection of candidates: 200 numbers of aspirants will be selected, through Pre-Qualifying Entrance Examination which will be conducted by State Selection Board, Higher Education Department, for availing coaching. 33%  of seats in each category shall be earmarked for women candidates.

Plan of Examination:

1. The Examination will be conducted offline. The Entrance Examination will consist of one paper of Objective type (multiple choice questions) and carry a maximum of 200 marks.

2. There will be two sections, Section A (General studies based), Section B (Aptitude Test based).

3. The duration of the examination will be 2 (two) hours. The Section-B of the Entrance Examination will be a qualifying paper with minimum qualifying marks fixed at 33%.

Availability of Common Application Form (CAF) in the SAMS portal: 15.4.2025
Last date of applying online CAF: 9.5.2025
Submission of applicant's data to SSB by OCAC to conduct Entrance Examination: 14.5.2025
Date of Entrance Examination: 8.6.2025
