One-Time Registration (OTR) Now Mandatory

A major update in this year’s recruitment process is the introduction of the One-Time Registration (OTR) system. This is now mandatory for all aspirants applying for UPSC examinations.
Candidates who had already completed the OTR process could directly proceed to fill out the application form. New users are required to create an OTR profile before applying for any UPSC exam in the future.

Exam Pattern Recap: Prelims Format

The Preliminary exam comprised two papers:

General Studies Paper I (used for merit ranking)

CSAT Paper II (qualifying paper requiring 33% to pass)

Both papers were multiple-choice format, carrying a total of 400 marks. While Paper II is qualifying in nature, Paper I determines the cut-off for selection into the next stage.

What Happens Next? Mains Preparation and DAF-I

Candidates who have cleared the Prelims must now prepare for the UPSC Mains examination, which is a written test involving essay-type questions. Prior to this, candidates are required to fill out the Detailed Application Form (DAF-I).

UPSC is expected to release guidelines for DAF-I submission shortly, including:

Submission deadlines

Required documentation

Online application process

Candidates are strongly advised to regularly visit the official UPSC website to avoid missing any crucial updates related to the next stage.
