Ahead of the Under Graduate (UG) and Post Graduate (PG) final year semester examination, the Odisha Government on Monday issued a fresh circular regarding the functioning of the Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs) in the state.
In a letter to the Vice-Chancellors of all State Public Universities and Principals (Govt/non Govt degree colleges), the higher education department has directed to ensure that all teaching and non-teaching staff resume work in their respective educational institutions.
Moreover, the 50 per cent Roster Attendance System which was introduced for teaching and non-teaching employees in view of the Covid-19 pandemic in April, has been withdrawn.

As per official notification, all teaching and non-teaching employees of HEIs have been asked to attend duty on all working days from July 6 (tomorrow).
The COVID-19 situation in the State has relatively improved compared to the situation prevailing in mid-April.
“Due to thin attendance of employees for almost two and half months, a lot of important work now remains pending.
HEls have to also conduct Final Semesters/Final Year Examination of 2020-21 UG/PG Final Semester/Final Year Students in Online mode and publish result at the earliest so that career of these students does not get affected,” the notification read.
As the examination of other non-Final Year batch students has to be conducted, one after the other, and to ensure that these students also do not suffer much due to delayed academic calendar, the 50 per cent Roster Attendance System is hereby withdrawn.
However, all COVID-19 prevention protocols such as face mask, hand sanitization, social distancing, self-isolation/quarantine, must be strictly followed by Universities/College employees," the notification read.
“It is hereby clarified that the instruction of G.A. & PG. Department of Government of Odisha regarding closure of Government Offices on Saturdays is not applicable to HEIs. However, HEIs will remain closed on Saturdays provided there is Covid-19 related shutdown declared in that district/town/city,” the higher education department letter read.
