The All India Council For Technical Education (AICTE) has issued public notice for students pursuing/ keen to pursue technical education abroad.
The notice has been issued following several instances where students have been found going to foreign countries to obtain Under Graduate (UG) and Post Graduate (PG) degrees in Technical courses which are not recognised.
Such students are facing problems and have to run from pillar to post for authentication and equivalence.

The AICTE has clarified that the validity/equivalence of such foreign degrees awarded are at times not at par with the degrees awarded to students passing from Indian Institutions. Such students after obtaining degrees from Foreign Universities are facing issues in getting the opportunities (Government/Private sector) jobs or higher education even after spending huge amount of fees to obtain such non-equivalent technical degree.
“AICTE has taken cognizance of the above issue and in order to avoid financial burden on parents of such students, is issuing the warning that student must carefully ensure the validity of the degree,” the public notice read.
The Council has further stated that an Indian National/ overseas citizen of India who intends to take admission in higher education in Engineering and Technology programme in Pakistan shall be required to obtain ‘No Objection Certificate’ from AICTE.
The student should apply for such clearance in prescribed proforma available on the AICTE website, the notice added.
