Following the resumption of physical classes in educational institutions across Odisha on Monday, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik called upon parents to allow their children to go to schools and encourage them to strictly follow Covid-19 safety norms.
In his address to the State, the CM said, "Without students, schools are meaningless and with the resumption of classes, schools have got a new lease of life. I urge the school managements to give special attention towards the safety of the students. I also request parents to allow students to go to school."
Stressing on the need of caution during the pandemic times, Patnaik said, "We will move forward. We have been able to fight the pandemic with the support of all. Such pandmic comes once in 100 years. Students, you need not panic as we all are with you. We need to be alert. I request you all to properly follow the Covid-19 guidelines, wear mask and frequently wash hands," he said.
He further advised students to work day and night to cover the gap in studies due to the closure of schools and colleges. "You (students) will not have to face any problem," assured the CM.
Stating that he has full faith in teachers, the CM said, "Teachers are revered as gods and play an important role in nurturing the future of children. Studies of students have been hampered due to the pandmeic and we all need to compensate it. You (teachers) can only make up the gap in the study of students due to the pandemic."
Naveen also asked teachers to ensure that students strictly adher to the Covid-19 guidelines. "Now on, the students are your responsibility," said the Chief Minister.
Today is a historic day for all as schools have opened after almost two years due to Covid-19 pandemic . Reopening of schools is a sign of returning of normalcy. But, one should not go complacent while following Covid appropriate behaviour, he added.
