Demanding online mode of examination, the third-year students of Shailabala Women’s Autonomous college in Cuttack staged dharna in front of the college's main gate on Wednesday.

The 5th semester offline examination of the third-year undergraduate students is scheduled to begin from February 23.

However, the students alleged that the curriculum for the entire semester was finished in just three months in the college and hence, they did not get enough time to prepare for the exams.

Speaking to OTV, an agitating student, Ambika said, “Our course completed yesterday, and the exams have been scheduled for February 23. How can we prepare on such short notice? It's not possible.”

Similarly, another student said, “We want our examinations to be held in online mode. They finished the course in haste; we are not prepared to appear for the exam. So if they want us to sit in the exams, it should be an online exam.”

After the interruptions caused by the third wave of Covid pandemic, physical classes in colleges, universities and other technical

institutions resumed across Odisha on February 7 in compliance with the safety protocols laid down by the State government.

Along with the schools, the hostels and other residential facilities for boarding students were also reopened on the same day.
