Alleging large scale corruption in the appointment of higher secondary school teachers, hundreds of aspirants on Thursday met Bhubaneswar MP Aparajita Sarangi.
The Odisha Secondary School Teachers Eligibility Test (OSSTET) aspirants alleged that corruption in the CBT exam for the same has shattered their dreams of becoming a teacher.
As part of the selection process, a computer based test (CBT) was held in March. The aspirants now alleged large scale corruption in the conduct of the test, leaving the transparency of the organisation that conducted the exam a lot to be desired.
“While the aspirants who secured 90 percentile have been deprived of getting a job, those who resorted to corruption have got appointment letters,” alleged the fumed aspirants.
“Last time the corruption percentage was 10 percent. But this time around, the percentage stood at 75 percent. We have proof to substantiate it. We demand justice from the Odisha government which has been emphasising on clean governance,” said an aspirant.
“It is said hard work never goes in vain, but it seems to us, all the hard work we put in shaping our career has gone down the drain,” said a female aspirant as tears rolled down her cheeks.
Some OSSTET aspirants had earlier reportedly met the concerned officials but to no avail. Later, they met the Bhubaneswar MP today seeking her intervention into the alleged corruption in the teacher recruitment process.
