However, authorities have clarified that any examinations already scheduled will continue as per the pre-announced timetable and will not be affected by the shutdown.

Students residing in hostels will be allowed to stay on campus, but classes and regular academic activities will remain suspended.
Alongside this, the Odisha government has also directed the closure of all Anganwadi centers operating between 7:00 a.m. and 8:30 a.m., which usually cater to pre-school children. To ensure that nutrition for young children is not disrupted, the Odisha government has decided to deliver Anganwadi meals directly to the children’s homes during this period.

The government’s directive applies uniformly across all types of educational institutions. In a strong message to private institutions, the state administration has warned that strict action will be taken against any private school or college that fails to comply with the closure order.

Officials have stated that this decision has been taken with the utmost concern for public health and student safety, especially in view of the rising temperatures that have made daytime outdoor activities unsafe. If the temperature sees a significant decline in the coming days, the government may consider reopening schools and colleges and issue appropriate instructions accordingly.

This proactive measure by the state government aims to mitigate the risks posed by the ongoing heatwave and reflects a cautious approach to public welfare during extreme weather conditions.
