The Controller of Examinations of Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) Bijay Kumar Sahoo on Sunday informed that the pass percentage of the annual Plus II examination this year will be likely over 90% due to the alternative assessment criteria adopted by the council in view of the cancellation of the exams amid the ongoing second wave of Coronavirus pandemic.
"The council has adopted the best possible evaluation criteria which is in the interest of the students. The pass percentage in the annual Plus II examination will be more than 90 percent this year because of the latest marking scheme," said Sahoo on the marking scheme to be adopted by the CHSE in 2021.

Sahoo further stated that generally students get less numbers in Class 12 than what they had secured in Class 10 matriculation examinations.
"However, most of the students this year will either secure equal marks what they had secured in Class 10 or more than that," added Sahoo.
Similarly, more ex-regular students are also expected to clear Plus II this year as compared to the last years, said the CHSE official.
The CHSE on Friday had released an alternative assessment criteria for the Regular and Ex-Regular examinees of Annual H.S. Examination, 2021, on the basis of the suggestion of the Expert Committee after necessary approval by the Examination Committee and the Department of Mass Education.
Practical/Project scores will be awarded and re-checked by the Internal Examiner(s) and Head of the Department keeping in view the average range of Practical/Project scores of the same institution in the relevant paper during the last three years and scores shall be allotted to each examinee in graded manner under the supervision of the Principal.
Similarly, scores will be awarded in Theory Papers/Theory Component of a paper by mapping and aligning of the subjects of 10th Board with papers of Class XI of CHSE basing on certain principles.
However, if an examinee is not satisfied with the result declared on the basis of Alternative Assessment Criteria, an option to appear in the Examination in the Off-line mode will be provided as and when situation becomes conducive and necessary clearance is obtained from the Government. The result of the same examination will be final and binding on the examinee.
The CHSE had also announced that the results of the annual Plus II examinations will be declared by August second week.
Around 3.50 lakh students were to appear for the examination this year. However, the exams were cancelled due to the rising cases of Covid-19 in the State as well as in the country.
