The National Institute of Technology (NIT) Rourkela, the organising institute for DASA and CSAB-Special 2025, has launched a common admission portal to streamline the admission process for foreign-origin, NRI, and other eligible candidates in engineering, architecture, and planning programs across premier Indian technical institutes.

According to a press release by the institute, the portal opens on July 30, 2025, offering eligible candidates a single platform to apply for Direct Admission of Students Abroad (DASA) and Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB)-Special Round for the academic year 2025–26.

The unified platform, developed by NIT-R as the coordinating institute for both categories, will allow candidates to register through a single window at csab.nic.in, reducing duplication, confusion, and administrative burden. Registrations open on July 30, with the final choice-locking deadline set for August 7.

The centralised process covers 105 institutes, including 31 National Institutes of Technology (NITs), 26 Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs), 3 Schools of Planning and Architecture (SPAs), IIEST Shibpur, and 44 centrally or state-funded technical institutes (GFTIs).

While DASA caters to Non-Resident Indians (NRIs), Overseas Citizens of India (OCIs), Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs), and foreign nationals, particularly from over 50 countries, CSAB-Special is meant for Indian citizens who missed out in the regular Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) rounds or wish to upgrade.

Officials at NIT-R said candidates with NRI status are eligible under both DASA and CSAB-Special. Since 2023, OCI and PIO candidates have also been allowed to apply under both categories through the same portal.
