NEP 2020 to be implemented in Odisha; School and mass education dept issues notification

Clearing air, the School and Mass Education Department of Odisha has decided to implement the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

“After careful consideration, in the interest of strengthening the educational system in the State, the Government is pleased to order that the National Education Policy 2020, as issued by the Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India, will be implemented in the State of Odisha,” the official notification read.

The move is part of the State's broad endeavour to align with national educational reforms, aiming to reshape the learning landscape into one that is more comprehensive and skill-focused.

Apart from the NEP, the National Curriculum Framework, with local contextualization, will be adopted as the State Curriculum Framework in Odisha.

It was earlier decided for a dedicated task force for monitoring the implementation process, supported by six thematic sub-committees tasked with developing recommendations.

Earlier, the Odisha government had announced to introduce the New Education Policy (NEP) in the state's higher education system.
