At a time when the admission process is underway, several students in Cuttack district are now worried as their matriculation certificates allegedly carry photographs of an unknown student. Not only one, same photograph is on the certificates of as many as 69 students of Asureswar 5T High School under Nishintakohili block of Cuttack district.
Some of the students alleged that they are facing problems in the Plus II admission process as the authorities are not accepting the certificates with mistakes.
What is more surprising is the fact that the students had first brought the matter to the notice of school authorities when they had received the admit card for the summative assessment (SA) I.
“When we received the SA I admit card, we found that it carried the photograph of a male student. When we brought the matter to the notice of school authorities, they assured that the mistake will be rectified in SA II. But the same thing happened when we received the admit card for SA II,” said Jigyasa Priyadarshini Mishra, a student.
Mishra further said that the authorities had then asked us to bring one passport-size picture which was pasted on the admit card. However, they had assured that the actual certificate will carry the genuine picture of the student, she added.
“But when we came to take the certificate, we found that picture of the same male student on our certificate. Are the school authorities playing with us? The admission authorities are not accepting the certificate,” Mishra added.
Ajay Kumar Barik, a guardian said, “I had gone to the college and the authorities did not accept the certificate stating that this is a duplicate certificate. I will commit suicide if the original certificate is not provided to us.”
Odisha BSE, vice-president, Nihar Ranjan Mohanty, on the other hand, took the matter casually and said, “We have not come across any such complaints. But for admission, only data is required. It is not a big thing. If the photograph has changed, we will rectify it. We are conducting the exam for 6 lakh students and it might be due to some technical issue. We will set it right.”
