Meet Jitendra Singh, a security guard, who is writing letters of families of Indian Army martyrs since Kargil War

He might be a security guard by profession. But, he’s doing his bit to honour Indian Army martyrs. Yes, you read that right! Jitendra Singh, a private security guard in Surat, Gujarat has been writing letters of gratitude to the families of martyrs since the Kargil War.

He has a collection of pictures of all the martyrs and turned his little house into a tiny museum with his love for the nation and the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the nation.

“Jai Hind, I’m Jitendra Singh. I have all the information of over 2.7 lakh Indian soldiers who have sacrificed their lives for the country since World War I. I have written letters of gratitude to their families and have collection of all the letters and pictures. I have also their statues and turned my house into a small museum to honour the Indian martyred soldiers,” says a proud Jitendra.

“I’m in touch with over 10,500 families of our martyred soldiers. I even have all the details of the soldiers who were martyred during World War 1 and World War II,” he added.

He was inspired by a Newspaper article where the family of a martyred said, “Beta gaya toh kya hua, desh toh salamat hai.” This inspired me so much that I became a hardcore patriot and started making collections of data, pictures, and all other details of the martyred soldiers.
