Every year, thousands of aspirants sit for the prestigious Civil Services Exam (CSE) conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) to become IAS, IPS, IRS and IFS. However, as fate would have it, only a handful get the chance to fulfill their dreams.
IPS Kamyaa Misra from Odisha is one such aspirant who cracked the UPSC on her very first attempt, that too when she was just 22. Her journey of becoming an IPS officer serves as an example of sheer commitment and diligence.
Hailing from Odisha, Kamyaa was a bright student from her childhood. She was the regional topper with an outstanding 98.6 points in Class 12. After completing her intermediate, she moved to Delhi and enrolled at the esteemed Lady Shri Ram College, Delhi University for her graduation.
She knew from the very beginning that UPSC was her call and had already begun her preparation during her graduation. Without any coaching, she focused on self-studies and relied on online materials and resources for thorough revision.
While it takes several attempts to clear CSE, touted to be India’s toughest exam, Kamyaa showed her abilities and passed the exam on her first try. She secured an All India Rank (AIR)-172 and was chosen for the Indian Police Service (IPS) in 2019. She was only 22 when she cracked the UPSC exam.
Initially, she was assigned to the Himachal cadre but was subsequently moved to the Bihar cadre, a report in DNA India stated.
On the personal front, she married Awadhesh Saroj, an IPS officer also from the Bihar cadre. They both tied the knot in Udaipur.
