Becoming an IAS officer is a dream of thousands of UPSC aspirants. However, IAS Mudra Gairola is quite different from other aspirant. She not only left her medical studies, but also quit her IPS job to fulfill her father’s dream to see her as an IAS officer.
Hailing from Karnprayag in Uttarakhand's Chamoli district, Mudra Gairola excelled in her studies. She was a bright student and secured 96% in the board exam and 97% in Class XII. Former IPS officer Kiran Bedi had given her an award in school.
After completing her 12th, she enrolled in a medical college in Mumbai to pursue a Bachelor of Dental Surgery degree. Thanks to her dedication and hard work, she went on to win a gold medal in BDS. After graduating from BDS, she moved to Delhi and enrolled in MDS.
However, it was her father’s dream to see her as an IAS officer. He himself dreamt of becoming an IAS officer, but wasn’t able to accomplish it. So, he wished his daughter could fulfill his wish.
To fulfill her father’s lifelong dream, Mudra left MDS in the middle to begin her preparation for the UPSC exam. She took the UPSC exam for the first time in 2018 and made it to the interview stage. However, she could not clear the interview round.
She again retook the exam in 2019 and once again got rejected in the interview round. Once again, she was unable to pass the Mains exam in 2020.
Despite failing three times, Mudra continued her struggle and retook the exam in 2021. This time, her hard work paid off and she became an IPS officer with an impressive AIR-165. However, Mudra was determined to become an IAS officer.
So, she took the exam once again in 2022 and secured an impressive AIR-53 to fulfill her IAS dream. Mudra’s fighting attitude proves that nothing is impossible if you have the right direction and attitude.
