Odisha Matric Exam 2025: BSE steps up security measures to prevent question paper leak

The annual Matriculation examination conducted by the Board of Secondary Education (BSE) is all set to commence from February 21 to March 6 this year. To ensure the smooth conduct of the exams, the board has stepped up all the security measures ahead of the exams.

In a bid to ensure the exams proceed without any untoward incident, the board has announced several strategies to guard against question paper leaks.

Enhanced Security Measures:

1.    In a bid to thwart any leaks of exam papers, question papers will be distributed to all centres between February 12 and 19.
2.    Each examination paper will bear a unique serial number, which will enable authorities to trace its origin in case of any illegal leak.
3.    In an effort to maintain the integrity of the exams, CCTV surveillance has been installed across all 3,133 centres distributed over 30 districts.
4.    Additionally, 314 nodal centres have been established to oversee the process.
5.    Moreover, 600 centres will benefit from improved lighting arrangements to ensure transparency and vigilance.

6. The Board of Secondary Education (BSE) Odisha has implemented a new digital locking system to enhance the security of question papers during transportation. This system includes password-protected digital locks and GPS tracking.

7. The digital locks can be operated in three ways: centrally from the BSE office, through passwords, or via chips with special messengers at designated centers. Any unauthorized tampering will trigger immediate alerts at the BSE control room through an integrated alarm system.

Advanced Security Features on Exam Papers:

Each question paper for the 2025 Class 10 Odisha Board Exam will feature unique identifiers such as watermarks, barcodes, and encrypted security numbers. These features are designed to make it easier to track and detect any unauthorized handling of the papers. If anyone attempts to photograph or scan the question papers, a self-display watermark will appear, allowing immediate detection at the BSE office. The board has also implemented a question paper numbering system, which will help trace the origin of any leaked papers. These measures are being implemented in response to several paper leak incidents that occurred in the state during 2024.

With these comprehensive measures, the Odisha Board is displaying a strong commitment to safeguarding this crucial component of the examination process.

Exam Schedule:

The Odisha Class 10 exams for 2025 are scheduled to take place from February 21 to March 6, 2025. The exams will be conducted daily from 9:00 am to 11:30 am, with one sitting and a single question paper for both regular and ex-regular students. To prepare for the exams, the board has announced that question papers will be distributed to all centers between February 12 and 19. This early distribution, coupled with the new security measures, is intended to prevent any last-minute issues and ensure smooth conduct of the exams.
