The absenteeism of thousands of candidates from the annual HSC exam this year is definitely a matter of concern, the Odisha government said on Monday while directing education officers at the district level to find out the reason behind the matter.
State School and Mass Education (S&ME) Secretary Bishnupada Sethi through a letter to all district education officers (DEOs) of the State has expressed bewilderment on how despite making the form fill-up work, students remained absent from physically appearing in the Summative Assessment-II Examination.
As per the government data, 43,489 candidates have not appeared in the Annual HSC Examination (SA-II), conducted by the Board of Secondary Education, Odisha, 2022. The absenteeism in districts like Mayurbhanj, Ganjam, and Bolangir is the highest, the S&ME Department said in the letter to the DEOs.
In light of the above, the government has directed the officials to make a school-wise analysis of the reason of the absence of students from the exam.
The DEOs have been asked to submit a report on the school-wise analysis of absenteeism in their respective districts and update the same in the Google Form (https://bit.ly/ABSENT_EXAMINEE DETAILS) within the next 10 (ten) days positively without fail.
