The Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) has put on hold the admission in Kendriya Vidyalayas under special provisions, including the Member of Parliament (MP) quota and the District Magistrate quota till further orders.
It is pertinent to mention here that the MPs have discretionary power to recommend at least 10 children for admission in a KV between classes 1 to 9 under the special provision. The MP quota of admission to KVs was earlier used to be six seats, which was later increased to 10.
As per reports, the matter of admission under the special provisions is being discussed and has not been put on hold permanently by the KVS.
Earlier, the Central government had scrapped the Education Minister's discretionary quota for admissions to Kendriya Vidyalayas, except of MPs.
In other news, the Delhi High Court on Monday dismissed the petitions challenging the minimum age criteria of six years for admission in KVs for the upcoming academic year.
Besides, the Court sought a response from the KVS on a public interest litigation seeking the appointment of special educators for students with disabilities studying in its schools.
