Hundreds of job aspirants on Friday flooded the streets in Bhubaneswar and staged a massive protest outside the office of the Odisha Staff Selection Commission (OSSC) alleging leak of question papers in the recently-conducted Combined Technical Service Recruitment Examination (CTSRE).
The protestors under the banner of Odisha Unemployed Diploma Engineers' Association demanded an investigation into the alleged paper leak and fresh conduct of a corruption-free CTSRE exam for recruitment of Civil JE.
The protesters holding placards like 'check the biggest question paper leak scam', 'we want corruption free exam' and 'fulfill our genuine demand' sought the scrapping of the exam that was conducted recently and re-scheduling of the fresh exam.
“Our demand is proper inquiry against 88 candidates who are involved in the question leak scam in Balasore,” read another placard.
The protesting job aspirants alleged that the government was playing with the lives of lakhs of unemployed youths with question paper leak. They demanded the state government to assure transparency in conducting competitive exams.
Speaking to OTV, a protester said, “The question paper leak shows severe lapse by the OSSC. No one has forcibly entered the OSSC office and leaked the papers. So, it is evident that officials here are involved in the scam. We demand their suspension and strictest punishment against those errant officials.”
“Such scams have led to the downfall of genuine, eligible students as the non-eligible students pay bribes and get the jobs. They say that at least 88 students have been involved in the scam, but we demand the arrest of the mastermind of this paper leak racket. We also want them to reveal the names of all the 88 involved students,” said another protestor.
“Despite repeated question paper leaks, the government has miserably failed to put an end to the menace or the officials are hand in glove with the scamsters. Be it OTET, OSSC, HSC, Plus II or any other exam, there is always corruption. Even as Naveen-government boasts of 5T that includes Transparency, the reality is very different,” an aspirant said slamming the ruling party.
The OSSC has not released any statement in connection with the alleged question paper leak so far.
