Gautam Das and Tanya Dixit from Odisha have secured ranks in the state-wise toppers list of the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2021, the results of which were announced by the National Testing Agency (NTA) on Wednesday.
Both Das and Tanya are the toppers from the State in the male and female category in the B.E./B.Tech. (Paper- 1). Both of them have secured NTA score of 99.99 and 99.8 percentile, respectively.
Das has secured All India Rank 28 and he had appeared only in one JEE session. “It was challenging but I focused on getting my concepts clear. My parents supported me throughout. I never forced myself for studies and only fixed targets for each day,” said Das adding that he has now set his focus on JEE Advance.

As per NTA, A total of 44 candidates have scored 100 percentile in the engineering entrance exam JEE-Main this year while 18 candidates have shared the top ranks. The first rank holders included Gaurab Das (Karnataka), Vaibhav Vishal (Bihar), Duggineni Venkata Paneesh (Andhra Pradesh), Siddhant Mukherjee, Anshul Verma and Mridul Agarwal (Rajasthan), Ruchir Bansal and Kavya Chopra (Delhi), Amaiya Singhal and Pal Agarwal (Uttar Pradesh), Komma Sharanya and Joysula Venkata Aditya (Telangana), Pasala Veera Siva, Karnam Lokesh and Kanchanapalli Rahul Naidu, (Andhra Pradesh), Pulkit Goyal (Punjab) and Guramrit Singh (Chandigarh).
From this year, the Joint Entrance Exam (JEE)-Main for B.E/ B.Tech was conducted four times a year to offer flexibility to students and a chance to improve their scores. The first phase was held in February and the second in March. Similarly, the third and fourth sessions were conducted in July, August and September, respectively.
For those candidates who appeared in more than one Session of the Examination, the best NTA score has been accounted for. The Examination was conducted in 925 centers across 334 cities including outside India and was monitored in various ways. As per NTA, a Central Control Room was set up to monitor and facilitate the smooth conduct of the examination on ground.
Two National Coordinators, six Regional Coordinators, 287 City Coordinators, and approx. 800 Observers had been appointed. “The Ranks of the candidates have been decided to take into consideration the best of NTA scores of all candidates who appeared in more than one sessions of the examination.
“For using unfair means, a total of 20 candidates have been debarred from appearing in future examinations for a period of three years. Their results have also been withheld,” NTA said in a circular.
